System Requirements

Hardware Requirements

The following are the desktop computer hardware requirements for CECAS:

128 MB (OS X) 		PowerPC If a Macintosh Platform is used, the CECAS Team recommends the use of only the Netscape browser (see below) as Internet Explorer in no longer supported by Microsoft on the Macintosh. Additionally, Mac OS 10.0.0 through 10.2.1 is not recommend because of Adobe Reader problems on these versions of Macintosh.

Software Requirements

The following are the desktop computer software requirements for CECAS:

 NN 7.0 NN 7.0 or higher. Internet Explorer is not recommended as Microsoft has stopped supporting Internet Explorer on the Macintosh platform.
Java Runtime Environment (downloaded automatically when first required)** 1.3.1 1.3.1 or higher

* Adobe Reader is required to view reports and edit IEP and related forms.

** The Java Runtime Environment is only required for ad-hoc data analysis, not for standandard operation of CECAS. If a version of the JRE exists on the computer that is greater than version 1.3.1, the existing version is used. For more information on the ad-hoc tool, see the ECSDTool FAQ.

Connection Requirements

The following are the internet connection requirements for CECAS:

  • Starting at 56k dialup per user OR
  • 1/6 of a T1 (or equivalent) per LEA
 1/4 of a T1 or higher. Dialup is not recommended (form download, in particular, may be very slow).

NOTE: The use of the same internet connection by multiple users will reduce the speed at which any individual user can access the application. Please be aware that there are many districts/schools who maximize their bandwidth during certain times of the year. CECAS activity, like all other internet activity, will be affected by these conditions - the result will be a slow-down of the application for these users during these periods.
