1. When I make a copy of a DEC4 that was closed verified before 1/18/2011, my information about NCEXTEND I and II is not being copied over. Why is this?
When the new accommodations screen was released to CECAS, accountability asked that the NCEXTEND I and II tests be moved from the participation drop list to the Test list. Please make sure that you verify your testing accommodations prior to closing any DEC4 form, especially if you copy an existing DEC4 .
2. When I run the NC Testing Report, I am not seeing all of the students who I have listed as taking the NCEXTEND I and II. Why is this?
When the new accommodations screen was released to CECAS, accountability asked that the NCEXTEND I and II tests be moved from the participation drop list to the Test list. Until all students in your LEA have the NCEXTEND I and II tests listed under the Test list, you will need to run the report once choosing NCEXTEND I and II as tests and then another time choosing NCEXTEND I and II as an accommodation. Please note that when choosing NCEXTEND I and II as an accommodation the word 'Inactive' will be displayed however it will not prevent the running of the report. When all IEPs in your LEA have been through an annual review cycle, it will no longer be necessary to run the report both ways.
3. Why doesn't CECAS have a validation to prevent a user from choosing a testing accommodation that is not allowable for a particular test, such as "Read Aloud" for the Reading test?
We cannot establish validations in CECAS preventing users from choosing certain accommodations with specific tests because the federal law mandates that the IEP team is the final authority on deciding about testing accommodations. The team must be provided with information about accommodations, including which ones will invalidate the test scores, but ultimately the IEP team has the authority to make the decision.
